Our Standard

Shear Excellence wants everyone to be able to use our website, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification or other assistive technology. We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as our target. Some parts of the site may not yet fully conform, and we continue to work on improvements.

What We Do

  • Each page has a single main heading, headings in a logical order, and a “Skip to Main Content” link.
  • Page regions (header, navigation, main content and footer) are marked so assistive technology can move between them.
  • Images have text alternatives; purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Menu buttons, links and embedded maps have accessible names.
  • Text colors meet WCAG AA contrast against their backgrounds, and links and buttons meet the minimum touch-target size.
  • We test pages with automated accessibility checks at phone, tablet and desktop widths and check keyboard navigation. Automated tools can’t find every issue, so we also welcome feedback.

Known Limitations

Some content comes from third-party services that we don’t control, and it may not be fully accessible:

  • Online booking and gift cards (Booker)
  • Embedded Google Maps and Street View virtual tours
  • Embedded YouTube video
  • Google Forms and Jotform forms
  • Social media sites we link to (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, Yelp, Google reviews)
